Hey guys! I’m Therese, the new intern of Sining kamalig. Today is our first day and we already experienced one of the tours of Smokey tours which is the cemetery tour. So, by 2:00 pm the tourist already arrived at the meeting place which is the McDonalds at Tayuman station. There are 4 tourists, one girl and the only Canadian in the group. Second one is the Malaysian guy who I assumed preferred listening than talking, nah just kidding. So, going back, in the group we also have two young at heart British men. And us, the two young women who is nervous and excited at the same time about the tour. and last but not the least, our beautiful tour guide ate Marjorie.
Before heading to our first destination, ate Marjorie brief us about what is going to happen on this 3-and-a-half-hour public group tour. she explained about the do’s and don’ts and also asked us to be more attentive and be careful. Our first stop is the flower capital, Dangwa. Aside from enjoying the beautiful flowers in the market, what we enjoyed the most is the stories and facts that ate Marjorie told us. One example of it is the story behind the name of the flower market. And also, the traditional courtship of us Filipinos back then. we also go to the lechonan in laloma as our side trip and since its near to our next destination.
After that we finished the tour by going to North Manila Cemetery. As usual ate Marjorie explained to us the history and the policy of the place. From how much they need to pay to provide a decent resting place to their dead loved ones to the reason why there are people who is living inside the cemetery and what is their day to day live looks like. So yeah, that’s pretty much what happened on our first experience in the cemetery tour. we enjoyed it and we learned a lot of things and I think that it’s an experience that I will never forget.
