According to the internet, sustainable tourism is the concept of visiting a place as a tourist and trying to make a positive impact on the environment, society, and economy. In other words, going to places with the mind set of conserving it and at the same time think about what needs to develop and to improve about the place in order to make the tourists comfortable and satisfied in their visit.
Tourism tiger, a website about the happenings in the tourism industry published an article about the new trends in the tourism industry this 2019. They posted 5 types of tourism and one of them is the responsible tourism. They talk about the things that if implemented can be considered a responsible tourism like Improve working conditions and access to the industry and Involve local people in decisions that affect their lives and life chances.
Personally I have fun reading their blog because it’s interesting. Being a tourism student is not only the reason why I find it interesting but also because I’ve been to beautiful places and saw a lot of breath taking view but they are not well known because of the difficulty of going to the places and also the low marketing strategy. There are also places that have been once a wonderful becomes horrible because of the humans being irresponsible in their actions.
So in order to achieve the goal of being responsible tourists we should become a responsible citizen first. Try to segregate the garbage in your house, or avoid using plastic bags when you are buying something. Maybe you’re thinking that what would change if I do this little thing? Is it going to solve the problem of our country in an instant? Of course not, But it can change our country, someday. There’s nothing instant in this world. You need to do everything little by little. You just need to trust yourself. Influence other people and you wouldn’t notice that the problem has been solved. Just because of the little things that you do.
Reading the article about responsible tourism changed my way of thinking about things. I also got some awesome knowledge and ideas that I think will help me in the future.
