Wat is parafraseren als professionele gespreksvaardigheid?

Parafraseren is een krachtige gespreksvaardigheid die professionals in staat stelt om de boodschap van de spreker te verduidelijken, te controleren of ze correct begrepen is en te bevestigen dat ze aandachtig luisteren. Door de woorden van de spreker in je eigen woorden te herformuleren, creëer je een sfeer van openheid, respect en wederzijds begrip.

Wat zijn de belangrijkste kenmerken van parafraseren?

  • Nauwkeurigheid: De parafrase moet de kern van de boodschap van de spreker correct weergeven.
  • Begrip: De parafrase moet duidelijk maken dat je de boodschap van de spreker begrijpt.
  • Neutraliteit: De parafrase mag geen eigen mening of interpretatie toevoegen.
  • Concisie: De parafrase moet beknopt en duidelijk zijn.
  • Aansluiting: De parafrase moet aansluiten bij de belevingswereld van de spreker.

Waarom is parafraseren belangrijk?

  • Verbetert begrip: Helpt je om de boodschap van de spreker te verduidelijken en misverstanden te voorkomen.

Hoe werkt parafraseren in de praktijk?

  1. Luister aandachtig: Luister zonder te onderbreken en let op both verbale en non-verbale cues.
  2. Identificeer de kernpunten: Bepaal de sleutelelementen van wat de spreker heeft gezegd.
  3. Herformuleer in je eigen woorden: Gebruik je eigen taal om de kernpunten van de spreker te beschrijven.
  4. Controleer of je het goed begrepen hebt: Vraag de spreker of je zijn of haar boodschap correct hebt begrepen.
  5. Vraag om verduidelijking: Als je iets niet duidelijk is, vraag de spreker dan om meer uitleg te geven.

Praktijkvoorbeeld

Stel je hebt een klantgesprek. De klant uit onvrede over een product. Je kunt parafraseren door te zeggen: "Als ik u goed begrijp, bent u niet tevreden met de prestaties van het product. Kunt u mij meer vertellen over uw ervaring?"

Aandachtspunten

  • Parafraseren is geen trucje: Het is belangrijk om oprecht geïnteresseerd te zijn in wat de spreker te zeggen heeft.
  • Te veel parafraseren kan storend zijn: Gebruik parafraseren met mate om de vaart van het gesprek te behouden.
  • Onnauwkeurige parafrases kunnen misinterpretatie veroorzaken: Zorg ervoor dat je parafrases de boodschap van de spreker correct weergeven.
  • Parafraseren is niet altijd geschikt: In sommige situaties, zoals bij crisissituaties, is het belangrijker om direct te handelen.

There are several ways to navigate the large amount of summaries, study notes en practice exams on JoHo WorldSupporter.

  1. Use the menu above every page to go to one of the main starting pages
    • Starting pages: for some fields of study and some university curricula editors have created (start) magazines where customised selections of summaries are put together to smoothen navigation. When you have found a magazine of your likings, add that page to your favorites so you can easily go to that starting point directly from your profile during future visits. Below you will find some start magazines per field of study
  2. Use the topics and taxonomy terms
    • The topics and taxonomy of the study and working fields gives you insight in the amount of summaries that are tagged by authors on specific subjects. This type of navigation can help find summaries that you could have missed when just using the search tools. Tags are organised per field of study and per study institution. Note: not all content is tagged thoroughly, so when this approach doesn't give the results you were looking for, please check the search tool as back up
  3. Check or follow your (study) organizations:
    • by checking or using your study organizations you are likely to discover all relevant study materials.
    • this option is only available trough partner organizations
  4. Check or follow authors or other WorldSupporters
    • by following individual users, authors  you are likely to discover more relevant study materials.
  5. Use the Search tools
    • 'Quick & Easy'- not very elegant but the fastest way to find a specific summary of a book or study assistance with a specific course or subject.
