De Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 - Severity Scales (SCID-5-S) is een gestructureerd interview dat de ernst van 12 psychische stoornissen meet bij volwassenen van 18 jaar en ouder. De SCID-5-S is een verkorte versie van de volledige SCID-5, die alle 25 DSM-5 diagnoses omvat.
De SCID-5-S bestaat uit modules voor de volgende psychische stoornissen:
- Stemmingsstoornissen: Depressieve stoornis, bipolaire stoornis I, bipolaire stoornis II
- Angststoornissen: Paniekstoornis met agorafobie, Paniekstoornis zonder agorafobie, Sociale fobie, Specifieke fobie, Obsessieve-compulsieve stoornis, Posttraumatische stressstoornis (PTSS)
- Somatoforme stoornissen: Somatoforme pijnstoornis, Somatoforme stoornis niet anderszins gespecificeerd
- Eetstoornissen: Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, Binge-eating-stoornis
- Middelenmisbruikstoornissen: Alcoholmisbruikstoornis, Opiatenmisbruikstoornis, Stimulantiamisbruikstoornis
De SCID-5-S wordt afgenomen door een getrainde beoordelaar die de cliënt interviewt en beoordeelt op basis van het interview en andere beschikbare informatie, zoals het medisch dossier van de cliënt.
De SCID-5-S scores worden gebruikt om de ernst van de symptomen van de cliënt te bepalen. De scores kunnen ook worden gebruikt om te bepalen of de cliënt voldoet aan de criteria voor een DSM-5 diagnose.

- Betrouwbaarheid en validiteit: De SCID-5-S is een betrouwbare en valide schaal die is onderzocht in een groot aantal studies.

Kritische kanttekeningen
- Tijdsintensief: De SCID-5-S is een tijdsintensieve test om af te nemen en te scoren.
- Training vereist: De SCID-5-S mag alleen worden afgenomen door een getrainde beoordelaar.
- Niet geschikt voor alle doelgroepen: De SCID-5-S is mogelijk niet geschikt voor alle doelgroepen, zoals mensen met een verstandelijke beperking of mensen die een andere taal spreken dan Engels.
