More about Sjakitarius in past and present

Products & Services CV

Guiding children with mental disabilities

  • Sjakitarius' goal is to create awareness on mental disabilities amongst children. Their motto is "No less, but differently gifted!"
  • In Bali, a child with a mental disability is not easily accepted or able to flourish in the society. Sjakitarius offers children and teenagers with a mental disability a learning programme and teaches parents and teachers how to take care of a mentally disabled child.
  • The organization developed a working culture with both Western and Balinese influences.
  • Their final goal is to transfer their foundation to the Balinese people.

Learning life skills

  • To bring improvement in the socio-economic position of children with mental disabilities Sjakitarius runs several projects. These projects focus on helping families take care of children with mental disabilities and on teenagers to learn social skills and take care of themselves.
  • A few examples of projects are:
    • The Play Learn Groups. These groups are meant for children untill the age of eight. During these sessions, children and their parents learn how to interact with each other in order to create a better relationship.
    • The Teenager Groups, which educates teenagers on subjects such as personal hygiene, sports, creativity and having a job.
    • Teach the Teacher. A programme developed for educating teachers on pupils with a mental disability.
