Het boek 'Organizational behavior: A skill-building approach' is geschreven door Christopher Neck, Jeffery Houghton en Emma Murray. Dr. Christoper Neck is een professor management aan de Arizona State University en heeft verschillende materialen geschreven over gedrag in organisaties. Dr. Jeffrey Houghton is universitair hoofddocent management aan de West Virginia University en heeft verschillende artikelen en boeken geschreven over relevante managementonderwerpen. Emma Murray is een fulltime auteur en heeft geholpen bij het schrijven van verschillende boeken over managementonderwerpen.
Dit boek is uniek in die zin dat het studenten een benadering biedt voor het ontwikkelen van vaardigheden om motiverende, leiderschaps- en teamwerkvaardigheden te ontwikkelen die hen zullen helpen gedragspatronen te analyseren en de juiste acties te ondernemen om het gedrag van organisaties op een positieve manier vorm te geven en te beïnvloeden. Kritisch denken staat in het boek centraal als waarde.
Waar gaat de 3e druk van het boek Organizational Behavior over?
In de derde editie zijn wijzigingen aangebracht ten opzichte van de eerdere versie door met name het onderwerp diversiteit en individuele verschillen los te koppelen in een apart hoofdstuk voor persoonlijkheid en individuele verschillen en een nieuw hoofdstuk over diversiteit, rechtvaardigheid en inclusie.
In hoofdstuk 1 van dit boek wordt de betekenis en relevantie van het onderwerp organisatiegedrag besproken. Hoofdstukken 2 tot en met hoofdstuk 7 gaan in op de individuele processen die ten grondslag liggen aan organisatiegedrag, zoals persoonlijkheid, perceptie, emoties en motivatie. De volgende hoofdstukken 8 t/m 12 gaan in op team- en organisatieprocessen zoals besluitvorming, creativiteit, ethiek, effectieve communicatie, conflict en onderhandeling. Hoofdstuk 13 en 14 gaan over leiderschap en beïnvloedingsprocessen. Ten slotte bespreken de hoofdstukken 15 en 16 verschillende factoren van de organisatiecontext, namelijk de organisatiecultuur en de organisatiestructuur.
