Gen-omgevingsinteractie bij psychologische eigenschappen en -stoornissen

  1. Gen-omgevingsinteractie omvat het fenomeen waarbij het effect van genen afhankelijk is van de omgeving en vice versa. De vele effecten van dit fenomeen op klinische stoornissen zijn vastgelegd. Deze documentatie leidt tot meer geïntegreerde etiologische modellen van het klinische beloop en –resultaat van deze stoornissen.

 

  1. Tweeling-, familie- en adoptie studies modeleren genetische effecten op een latente manier. Dit betekent dat de genen niet direct gemeten worden, maar dat de genetische invloed afgeleid wordt op basis van correlaties tussen familieleden.

Vooruitgang in de technologieën voor genotypering hebben bijgedragen aan een snelle toename van onderzoek naar gen-omgevingsinteractie met specifiek gemeten genen. Elk van deze onderzoeksdesigns kent zijn eigen sterke punten en limitaties.

 

  1. In de literatuur worden er twee soorten gen-omgevingsinteractie in detail besproken. Ten eerste waaiervormige interacties ‘fan-shaped interactions’, hierbij is de invloed van het genotype groter in een bepaalde omgevingscontext dan in een andere. Ten tweede kruis interacties ‘crossover interactions’, hierbij kunnen dezelfde individuen die het meest worden benadeeld door negatieve omgevingen ook diegenen zijn die het meeste profijt hebben van positieve omgevingen.

 

  1. Moeilijkheden voor het onderzoeken van gen-omgevingsinteracties ontstaan door een gebrek aan een echte metriek en het (te) brede scala aan omgevingsstudies. Verder besteden onderzoekers binnen dit veld niet genoeg aandacht aan kwesties zoals: kracht, het gebruik van een logistische regressie en geselecteerde steekproeven.

 

  1. Epigenetische processen kunnen ons meer vertellen over de biologische mechanismes waarmee de omgeving de genexpressie en het gedrag kan beïnvloeden. De groeiende literatuur toont verschillen in genexpressie bij mensen aan als een functie van omgevingservaring. Dit laat zien dat onze sociale wereld biologische significante effecten kan uitoefenen op genexpressie bij mensen.

 

  1. Veel van het huidige onderzoek naar gen-omgevingsinteractie maakt geen gebruik van de huidige stand van de wetenschap betreffende genetica of psychologie. Vooruitgang in dit onderzoeksgebied vereist nauwe samenwerking tussen psychologen en genetici.

This type of navigation can help find summaries that you could have missed when just using the search tools. Tags are organised per field of study and per study institution. Note: not all content is tagged thoroughly, so when this approach doesn't give the results you were looking for, please check the search tool as back up
  3. Check or follow your (study) organizations:
    • by checking or using your study organizations you are likely to discover all relevant study materials.
    • this option is only available trough partner organizations

    • by following individual users, authors  you are likely to discover more relevant study materials.

    • 'Quick & Easy'- not very elegant but the fastest way to find a specific summary of a book or study assistance with a specific course or subject.
