The World Bank
The World Bank Group is one of the world’s largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries. Its five institutions share a commitment to reducing poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development. They work together with the IBRD and IDA, which provides financing, policy advice, and technical assistance to governments of developing countries. IDA focuses on the world’s poorest countries, while IBRD assists middle-income and creditworthy poorer countries.
The World Banks main mission is to end extreme poverty in all its forms and promote shared prosperity by 2030.
What does World Bank do?
The World Bank is the largest public development institution in the world, lending around US$ 25 billion a year to developing countries. The main purposes of the Bank, are: “to assist in the reconstruction and development of territories of members by facilitating the investment of capital for productive purposes” and “to promote the long-range balanced growth of international trade and the maintenance of equilibrium in balances of payments by encouraging international investment thereby assisting in raising the productivity, the standard of living and conditions of labour in their territories”.
The World Bank Group works in every major area of development. They provide a wide array of financial products and technical assistance, and help countries share and apply innovative knowledge and solutions to the challenges they face. They preform 4 main tasks, setting up development projects, provide open knowledge, offer products and services and accelarate solutions through learning. WBG also supports capacity development in the countries they serve. Not only that but they also sponsor, host, or participate in many conferences and forums on issues of development, often in collaboration with partners. To ensure that countries can access the best global expertise and help generate cutting-edge knowledge, the Bank is constantly seeking to improve it's ways to share its knowledge and engages with clients.
What does World Nank offers:

For example, the Open Data website offers free access to comprehensive, downloadable indicators about development in countries around the globe. We have also made World Bank Live—live discussions open to participants worldwide—a key part of our Spring and Annual Meetings with the International Monetary Fund.
