De onderzoekers willen kijken of er andere verklaringen zijn voor de associaties tussen muziek en probleem gedrag. Het doel van het onderzoek is kijken of censuur bij muziek waarvan verwacht wordt dat het probleem gedrag versterkt juist dit gedrag nog meer zal versterken.
Hypothesen:
De participanten die een beschrijving van een liedje hoorden waarin gezegd werd dat het liedje voor probleem gedrag kan zorgen zullen de muziek ook zien als een liedje dat probleem gedrag zal veroorzaken daarentegen zullen de participanten die hetzelfde liedje luisteren maar in de beschrijving horen dat de muziek mensen door hun emoties heen helpt dit niet denken.
De participanten werden ook gevraagd om de reactie op het liedje dat ze verwachten van iemand van hun eigen leeftijd en sekse een cijfer te geven.
Er deden in het totaal 80 participanten mee aan het onderzoek waarvan er 16 man en 64 vrouw zijn. De gemiddelde leeftijd is 18.98 jaar.
Belangrijkste resultaten:
Als een liedje aan de participanten werd beschreven als een liedje dat ooit verbonden was met een aantal zelfmoorden, zagen de participanten het liedje als iets dat gevoelens van zelfmoord versterkte.
Als een liedje werd beschreven als een liedje dat mensen juist door hun emoties heen hielp, zagen de participanten dit als leven-bevestigend.
Er was geen verschil te vinden tussen de artiesten die beter bekend waren en de artiesten die minder bekend waren.

Er moet een zelfde onderzoek plaatsvinden onder een andere sample.
Sommige participanten kunnen de tekst van de muziek eerder gehoord hebben en dit kan hun antwoord beïnvloeden.
De bevindingen hier moeten gezien worden als indicaties.
Het heeft volgens dit onderzoek dus juist een negatief effect als men de liedjes waarvan verwacht wordt dat ze probleemgedrag als zelfmoord versterken censuur gaan opleggen.
