Humanitarian aid

  • The Danish Refugee Council is Denmark's largest ngo. Founded in 1956, the organisation has grown to become an international organisation with over 7000 staff working in 30 countries. 
  • The organisation's main purpose is providing aid and assistance to refugees and displaced people. The goal is to provide a sustainable solution and to give refugees a chance at a bright future.
  • Currently the organisation operates in for example: Sudan, Somalia, Ukraine, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan.

Areas of focus

  • The Danish Refugee Council aims to assist in the whole displacement process, from providing emergency care when a crisis first arises to helping with the integration process in a new place.
  • Hereby the organisation identifies ten areas of focus: protection, shelter and non-food items, coordination and operational services, income generation, food security, community infrastructure and services, water, sanitation and hygiene, armed violence reduction, humanitarian mine action and education.
