Travel in Mauritania?
- This African country consists largely of desert, which can be seen very close to the coast. Although it is not recommended to travel in large parts of the sparsely populated country for safety reasons, Mauritania has special geological sites. An example of this is the Richat structure. This natural phenomenon, the exact origin of which is unknown to this day, looks like a circular rock structure and has a diameter of approximately fifty kilometers.

- Parc National du Banc d'Arguin is a UNESCO world heritage nature reserve, which is known for the many birds you can see there.
- Nouakchott is the capital of the country and is an oasis of urbanization in the middle of the desert. Go to the many fish markets or visit one of the mosques. Réserve Satellite du Cap Blanc is a small nature reserve located in the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can find impressive shipwrecks and spot the rare Mediterranean monk seal, which is threatened with extinction.
- Most of Mauritania consists of desert. In the northern part of the country it can be hot, with temperatures above 40 degrees.
