There are always pluses and minuses surrounding emigration or a long stay abroad. It takes an average of four years before emigration plans are realized, according to both research and practice. The first two years are usually an orientation phase, where potential emigrants do online research and visit the country in question whenever possible. In the following two years it is time to make the decisions and take care of all kinds of regulations.
If you are in the orientation phase, first determine the main purpose of the long stay abroad or emigration for you and your partner and children. What do you or do you want to achieve?
And remember: if it doesn't work out...you can always go back again...
