Goldstein - Cognitive Psychology
Hey students!
One book for this subject is "Goldstein, E.B. & Van Hooff, J.C. (2018). Cognitive Psychology (1st edition)". There is a beautiful summary of an old version of a similar book of the same author (Chapter 1-12, except 8&13). Take care of the changes in the new version of the book! Carlson: Physiology of Behaviour
Hey guys,
For the first years psychology subject "Biology and Cognitive Psychology" you guys have to read two books. One of them is "Carlson - Physiology of Behavior". This is the dutch summary of the books' 11th edition. Take care though: There exsist newer versions of that book (as far as I'm concerned a 12th edition) but in my personal experience do newer versions of books just contain minor changes. I would advise you to compare the order of the chapters in both editions.

The nervous system - how does it work?
One big part of physiology is the nervous system. If you find reading through this part as boring as I did I can tell you that the following video is a massive help. However, this video is not as detailed as necessary but it gives a great introduction into the topic and facilitates the reading material. Give it a shot and you will thank me for life!
Action Potential
When I was sitting in my biology class in school I did not grap the action potential at all! A few years later I sit innocently in my Cognitive Psychology lecture and there it was again. Maybe you can relate?

Drugs and Neurotransmission
Important for your understanding of psycho-biology is the influence of differnt drugs on our brain - this will also play a big role in psychopharmacology!
You should be familiar with basic functions of the brain and the action potential by now (if that is not the case check out the videos I posted on my profile). This little clip visualizes the theoretical knowledge you obtained through readings and explains the effect of different drugs on our brain.

Watching videos is - in my opinion - always a good supplement to old-school reading and writing.
