Antisocial personality disorder - DSM criteria

The DSM criteria for antisocial personality disorder are:

  • A pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15 years

    • Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviours as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
    • Deceitfulness
    • Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
    • Irritability and aggressiveness
    • Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
    • Consistent irresponsibility
    • Lack of remorse
  • The individual is at least 18
  • There is evidence of conduct disorder with onset before age 15
  • Does not occur exclusively during the course of another disorder or medical condition
