Rwanda Village Concept Project (RVCP) is a non-governmental, non-political, voluntary organisation run by students at the University of Rwanda (UR). The mission of RVCP is to improve health and living standards of the underprivileged communities.
The students that run this organisation are very welcoming to international visiters who are interested in humanitarian work and want to truly experience the Rwandan culture. Working with students and (local) volunteers is a key part of the foundation upon which RVCP was built, as it strives to increase awareness and develop students’ problem solving skills, aptitude for fieldwork and project planning abilities. They also work with partner organisations based all over the world including Britain, American, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
RVCP has various projects that have been set-up and organised by Rwandan student themselves. They currently run 6 programs (but are always coming up with new creative ideas and programs):
- Hygiene, Water and Sanitation program
- Maternal health program program.
- Initiative program
- HIV/AIDS prevention program
- Gender Empowerment (a.k.a. Pyramid) program
- Income generation program
