Hoorcollegeaantekeningen 17/18
Veranderde werkinhoud
Fysieke of emotionele arbeid
Verandering zorgt voor onzekerheid = stress
Verandering vereist aanpassing = energie
Organisatieverandering
Verruiming ziektebegrip
Individualisering
Verantwoordelijkheid ligt steeds meer bij de werknemer
Veranderd verwachtingspatroon
Psychologisch contract onder druk
‘Ontdekking’ van de burnout
Klinische benadering
Onderzoeksbenadering
Christina Maslach (1976): emotionele werkdruk (ambulance, gevangenis e.d.) te hoog burnout
Burnoutklachten
Vermoeidheid
Distantie (demotivatie)
Verminderde competentie
Spanningsklachten
Werk gerelateerd
Schaufeli & Enzmann (1998): “ Burnout is a persistent, negative, work-related state of mind in ‘normal’ individuals that is primarily characterized by exhaustion, which is accompanied by distress, a sense of reduced competence, decreased motivation, and the development of dysfunctional attitudes at work ”
Verschil burnout en depressie
Burnout vs. Depressie:
Woede, wrok - Schuld, suicidale ideatie
Werk gerelateerd - Alle levensgebieden
Minder werkplezier - Anhedonia
Geen ‘vitale’ symptomen - ‘Vitale’ symptomen
Dagelijkse stemmingswisselingen
Gewichtsverlies of – toename
Afname libido
2. Zelfbeoordelingsvragenlijst (psycholoog)
Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)
Utrechtse Burn Out Schaal: 3 versies; contactueel, leerkrachten, algemeen.
Klinische burnout en sociobiografie
(N=10.064)
Meer mannen (4,5%) dan vrouwen (3,6%)
Toename met leeftijd: van 2,0% < 25 jr. tot 6,3% > 55 jr.
Meer bij full-timers (5,8%) dan bij parttimers (3,1%)
Gemiddeld duren de klachten 2,5 jaar.
Oorzaken: Hoge taakeisen
Kwantitatieve belasting (werkdruk, tijdsdruk, deadlines)
Kwalitatieve belasting (geestelijk, emotioneel)

Gevolgen van een burnout: Werk gerelateerde attitudes
Individueel niveau - Organisatiebetrokkenheid
Depressie - Verloopneiging
Psychosomatische klachten Organisatie niveau
Luchtweginfecties - Verloop
Slaap problemen - Ziekteverzuim
Arbeidsprestatie
