Hoorcollege 8: aandacht, executieve functies, emotie & sociale cognitie
Verschillende vormen van aandacht
- Verdeelde aandacht: wordt gebruikt voor multitasken
- Gerichte aandacht: specifiek 1 ding willen registreren en andere stimuli negeren
- Volgehouden aandacht: concentratie
- Alertheid
Broadbents model van aandacht
geregistreerde/ongeregistreerde stimuli → sensorische opslag → selectieve filter (selectie vind plaats op fysieke eigenschappen, waardoor een bottleneck effect ontstaat) → hogere vormen van verwerking → werkgeheugen → lange termijngeheugen
Aandacht testen
- Bourdon Wiersma test (1992): op een a3 formaat zijn groepjes met stippen afgebeeld. De patiënt moet groepjes met 4 stippen omcirkelen. Hierbij kan het dat iemand verminderde aandacht (lager erover doen), nauwkeurigheid tonen.
- Stroop taak (1935): woorden van kleuren zijn afgebeeld in de congruente of een incogruente kleur. Aan de patient wordt gevraagd om of het woord op te lezen of de kleur op te noemen
- Trail making Test: Op een vel zijn rondjes met daarin 1, 2, 3, 4, etc en a, b, c, d etc afgebeeld. Aan de patient wordt gevraagd om deze met elkaar te verbinden als 1a, 2b, 3b, 4b dit is om te kunnen testen voor verdeelde aandacht
Multitasken werkt niet omdat als je wisselt van taken dit tijd en nauwkeurigheid kost. Bij het wisselen treed er namelijk een switching penalty op
Executief functioneren bestaat uit allerlei elementen/functies die samenwerken en raken aan andere processen
Diamond 2013 deed onderzoek naar waar de executieve functies belangrijk voor zijn. Hieruit bleek dat het belangrijk is voor een groot scala aan dingen, waaronder mentale gezondheid
Voorheen werd gedacht dat executieve functie gelegen waren in het frontale gedeelte. Momenteel is het inzicht dat het meer te maken heeft met netwerken. De samenwerking van verschillende hersengebieden en interactie hiertussen
Emoties hebben weinig cognitieve aspecten
Sociale cognitie: als we hebben over het sociale verkeer zoals inhibitie van emoties
Bodily map of emotions: een participanten is gevraagd waar in hun lichaam zij activatie en deactivatie ervaren bij het voelen van een emotie. Hierbij is vrijwel geen verschil tussen verschillende landen en culturen. Naarmate de leeftijd toeneemt wordt er een lagere mate van activatie en deactivatie aangegeven.
Sociale cognitieve functies worden tegenwoordig steeds meer meegenomen in de testbatterij bij neurologisch onderzoek. Voor drie belangrijke processen zijn hersengebieden vastgesteld.
- Theory of mind
- Spiegelneuronen
- Empathie
Insula: stukje cortex onder de cortex die betrokken is bij walging en dingen zoals pijnbeleving, hongergevoel, emotionele aspecten bij ervaringen
Hoe meet je sociale cognitie?
- Waarneming: emotion recognition task. Verschillende gezichten worden getoont en hierbij wordt gevraagd wat de bijpassende emotie is. Reading the mind in the eyes test. Hierbij wordt er een paar ogen getoont en moet de patient vertellen wat dit te zeggen heeft
- Interpretatie: Happes Cartoon test. Een sociale plaat wordt getoont waarbij de patiënt moet vertellen wat er gebeurd wat dat betekent. Is het bvb grapppig? Faux-Pas test. Bevat een voorbeeld van een situatie gegeven waar de plank wordt misgeslagen op sociaal gebied. Patiënt moet aangegeven of en wat mis ging
