Why trees?, An Eco-club initiative.
A short yet complex question.
The 7th standard students accepted the challenge and started brainstorming (in tree shape, of course). Now that their own ideas were clear it was time to change the point of view, what if you don't live in a small village in India but in a big city in America? A short video helped to get those opinions into the classroom.
In groups of five the students started to organize all the ideas, making a top 5 of reasons why trees are important. A general discussion afterwards resulted in a top 3:
1. Oxygen (For breathing)
2. Shadow (For taking rest)
3. Wood (For cooking and making fires)
The students got actively involved in environmental issues and... this time it were the students who got actively involved dancing, Dutch dancing for a change.
Making this again a memorable day.
