Fluor vaginalis is een infectie die vaak veroorzaakt wordt door Candida albicans. Het zorgt voor een verandering in de kleur, viscositeit en geur van de afscheiding van de vagina. Fluor vaginalis kan ook veroorzaakt worden door Gardnella, een overschot aan anaërobe bacteriën, Trichomonas vaginalis, Chlamydia trachomatis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
De behandeling van fluor vaginalis
De behandeling van fluor vaginalis bestaat uit antimycotica wanneer de fluor vaginalis is ontstaan door Candida albicans. Voorbeelden van antimycotica zijn clotrimazol of miconazol in tablet of crème vorm. De omzetting van lanogestrol door het P450 enzym afhankelijke lanosine 14α-demethylase wordt geïnhibeerd. De behandeling van fluor vaginalis bestaat uit nitroimidazol wanneer de fluor vaginalis is ontstaan door een Gardnella of Trichomonas vaginalis. Een voorbeeld van metronidazol is metronidazol. Dit medicijn remt de DNA-synthese van de bacterie. De behandeling van fluor vaginalis bestaat uit macrolide wanneer de fluor vaginalis is ontstaan door Chlamyda trachomatis. Een voorbeeld van een macrolide is azitromycine.
