Artikel Tuure; Deliberative Communication in Elementary Classroom Meetings: Ground Rules, Pupils’ Concerns, and Democratic Participation

 

Methode: discussies, observaties, video-opnames -> etnografisch onderzoek

 

Er zijn vele obstakels die meespelen in het proberen om leerlingen mee te nemen in democratische processen op school.

-> veranderen van interactie patronen in de klas en de gezag processen die ze in standhouden

 

De structurering van sociale interacties tussen leraar en leerling draagt cruciaal bij aan de mislukking van school om leerlingen te betrekken bij democratische participatie.

 

Onderzoeksvraag:

1. Kan publieke besluitvorming communicatie (deliberative communication) geïntroduceerd worden een schoolklas, leeftijd 10-11 jaar?

2. Welke (als die er al zijn) kansen voor democratische participatie biedt de introductie van deliberative communication voor de leerlingen?

 

Deliberative communication: een collectief proces van kritiek wegen van en balanceren tussen verschillende visies en argumenten.

-> dit idee is controversieel

 

Dilemma van de leraar: leerlingen gaven vaak zorgen en initiatieven, helemaal gerelateerd aan het dagelijks leven van de klas, maar hen antwoord geven nam teveel lestijd in beslag.

 

Resultaten

- grondregels voor deliberative communication medieert de interacties onder leerlingen en tussen leerling en leraar -> geeft aan dat leerlingen gewend zijn geraakt aan de normen van deliberative communication

 

Discussie

- leerlingen zijn gewend geraakt aan de regels van deliberative communication

1. Kan publieke besluitvorming communicatie (deliberative communication) geïntroduceerd worden een schoolklas, leeftijd 10-11 jaar?

-> ja dit is mogelijk

 

2. Welke (als die er al zijn) kansen voor democratische participatie biedt de introductie van deliberative communication voor de leerlingen?

-> het moet uitgebreider worden toegepast, niet alleen tijdens discussies maar ook tijdens lessen

 

Tekortkomingen

- leerlingen zijn in het echte leven geen homogene groep

- is deliberative communication wel wenselijk

- het moet op meer scholen geïntroduceerd worden, anders blijft de status quo in stand.

 

Kinderen en jongeren zijn ‘anders gelijke’ burgers en zijn dus in staat serieus te overwegen wat voor hen significant is

-> dus geen reden om niet deliberative communication toe te passen.

Note: not all content is tagged thoroughly, so when this approach doesn't give the results you were looking for, please check the search tool as back up

    • by checking or using your study organizations you are likely to discover all relevant study materials.
    • this option is only available trough partner organizations

    • by following individual users, authors  you are likely to discover more relevant study materials.

    • 'Quick & Easy'- not very elegant but the fastest way to find a specific summary of a book or study assistance with a specific course or subject.
