Backpacking or travelling in the Solomon Islands?

  • The (more than 900!!) Solomon Islands are good for both the active traveller and the nature seeker. On these beautiful volcanic islands you will find ancient jungles, beautiful beaches and a wonderful, biodiverse sea, but you can also enjoy many active sports. It is an undertaking to travel around, but because of that you will also find less tourists and more adventure.
  • Activities to spot: dive at Iron Bottom Sound; relax and explore on Tetepare Island; visit Skull Island and learn about the cultural history; walk on Kolombangara; buy local crafts at the Honiara Market; snorkel and kayak through the Marovo Lagoon - the largest saltwater lagoon in the world; learn traditional dance and music from the locals in Malaita; surf in Gizo; dive in natural mud baths on Savo Island.
  • Animal spotting: dugongs, giant turtles, lionfish, reef sharks, tropical birds, sea snakes, dolphins, whales etc.
  • Food spotting: kokoda, roasted breadfruit, taro in coconut milk, fresh papaya and mango, lobster, sago pudding, cassava chips, coconut water.
